Let bright lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. They will be signs to mark off the seasons, the days, and the years. Genesis 1:14
What day is it?
What if it never got dark? You wouldn't know when to play and when to sleep. That's why God created the sun for the day and the moon for the night. The sun and moon help us to know when it's a new day. One-two-three-four-five-six-seven days and nights make a week. And 52 weeks makes each of us a whole year older! The sun and moon also help us keep track of the seasons - spring and summer and fall and winter.
Dear God, you make the day and night, the sun and moon to give us light.
